Reference Gathering & Travels

My commitment: To live my life on purpose.
My purpose: To illuminate our spirits thru my artwork, actions and attitude. Thru my life I have learned that we are all one. I believe that our spirits are connected whether they are from the human race, animal families, or our earth itself. I intend to strive to always chose to be kind in all matters. To chose to be compassionate and empathetic towards all beings. I am learning to direct my efforts toward bringing awareness to and relieving the plight of beings that live in less than loving, supportive environments

It is great fun to have the excuse of being an artist to travel all over the world! My goodness. The past years were ones of travel for sure. I went to Africa in November of 08 and though it was supposed to be a reference gathering trip it really didn't turn out to be that way. I met some wonderful people, Kenyans and Americans. I was in Nairobi when our new president was elected. Talk about timing! What celebration of hope and promise for a people that are basically without the slightest bit of human comforts, such as floors or shoes.

I got to go to an elephant orphanage and feed baby elephants who had lost their moms in drought or from poaching. They are sensitive and sweet. They love each other and support each other, watch out for each other and are just the most beautiful animal.

I went to Wyoming with my hubby. We spent 4 days in Bozeman with friends photographing animals that are trained for the movie industry. They are amazing and I've got references for a lifetime of painting (I always say that!) Here's an example:

I'm amazed that this momma mountain lion allowed me to be this close!

What a bundle of motion! They started yelling and I got pretty nervous with Momma somewhere behind me and NOT on a chain! Yikes! All went well though.
